Guest Lecture, Moldova State University
On Monday I delivered a guest lecture at the American Studies Center at Moldova State University. The topic: "Criminal Procedure in the United States." Many interesting comparisons between the adversarial system in the U.S. and the more inquisitorial system in the Republic of Moldova, including differences in plea bargaining.
The professor is a judge in the economic court, and I am looking forward to visiting his courtroom next week.
While there I had the opportunity to visit with the President of the American Studies Center, to learn more about the upcoming international conference that she is organizing, "Strengthening Democracy through Civic Engagement." I was delighted to accept the invitation to serve as a Keynote Speaker for the conference in December.
