Tapestry of Moldovan Crafts and Arts
Prior to the International Women's Club of Moldova meeting on Tuesday night, club leaders organized a "Tapestry of Moldovan Crafts and Arts." Vendors were local artists, including some of the IWCM beneficiaries.
I was so impressed with the sewing projects produced by the children at one of the internats supported by the IWCM. (The Club provided materials -- and a seamstress taught the interested children how to sew, giving them a useful skill and potential job opportunities.) I purchased jewelry made by women at Freedom House, a place for women who are survivors of human trafficking. And funds from this plaque (of the mythical beast that is on the shield of the Moldovan flag) will support the Special Olympics here (another IWCM beneficiary).
The IWCM's big annual fundraiser is the Night of Art (December 4th!) -- so I will have to save up my lei!
