Lacul Lebedelor and other adventures last weekend

We very much enjoyed our weekend in Chisinau. The weather was absolutely beautiful. Blue skies. Sunshine. Temps in the high 60s, low 70s.
Lots of playground time for Peggy!
More horse drawn carriage ride in the park.
Highlight was Swan Lake at the Teatrul National de Opera si Balet. Our tickets (front and center) were only 90 lei each (just under $8!) (Here are the programs in English, Romanian, and Russian.) Peggy fell asleep before Von Rothbart died in the lake. I waited for others to leave the theater, then called our taxi. As I was leaving, the curtain opened, revealing Odette and Prince Siegfried talking to the Director. (And all of the backdrops were raised, so I could see large props at the very back of the stage (looked like the pillars/columns from Aida were there, among others) It was pretty cool. If I weren't burdened with a sleeping Peggy, leftover pizza from Andy's and other things, I might have thought about asking for a photo or an autograph. We will miss being able to walk a few blocks to wonderful ballet and opera productions (that cost less than a ticket to the movies)
We also saw several campaign events and volunteers handing out lit on Stefan cel Mare. Here is a sample of the lit I picked up over the weekend. One stark contrast between campaign lit in the U.S. and Moldova: here the lit is so WORDY. Lots and lots of words, precious few visuals.
