Topkapi Palace, Istanbul
Topkapi Palace was the seat of government for the Ottoman Empire and the imperial residence of the Sultan. Construction began in 1459 and was completed in 1478 (and succeeding Sultans added to the palace over the course of four hundred years). Here are a few photos, but the most spectacular things that we saw we were not allowed to photograph (such as antique kaftans and the Kasikci Diamond)
