On Sunday Peggy and I decided to go back to Mall-Dova to see Tangled again. (A nice, cozy, indoor activity) Sadly, I didn't do adequate advance work. The movie times had changed since last weekend, and there was only one showing at 10:30 am (we were inquiring about tickets at 10:40 am) Not only had the movie already started, but also, it was sold out.
So, we decided to see The Chronicles of Narnia: Voyage of the Dawn Treader. This movie was also in Russian (as they all are here), but this time we did not have the benefit of the Romanian subtitles.
Still, we enjoyed it a lot. We may have missed the nuances of the dialogue (well, to be frank, 99% of the dialogue -- unless they were saying spasiba, pazhalsta, da, nyet, zdrastvuytye, or dasvidanya, we would not literally understand what they were saying) Nevertheless, we were able to follow the plot
And we both enjoyed it. There were times when I worried whether Peggy would follow along, in Russian, but the movie (and its action/special effects) held her attention the whole time
Our fun also included lunch at KFC, a latte at Roberts (for me) and a carmel sundae at McDonalds (for Peggy). And a visit to the toy store, because we *needed* more mermaid dolls to pack into our suitcases.
Of course, I hate that we are seeing Hollywood movies and eating at American fast-food restaurants in a mall while we are here in Moldova. And as we ride the taxi home I think how glad I am that we made the most of exploring Chisniau (and Moldova) when we had beautiful weather -- and waited until we were here for more than 4 months to hang out at a *mall.* (gasp) (But with less than 2 weeks 'till Christmas, can you really blame us?)
