Pushkin Museum, continued
We very much appreciated the tour through the Museum, which has an impressive collection of artifacts. For example, pictured here is the passport document that Pushkin used to travel, a bust that was commissioned by Pushkin's wife using his death mask, and, of course, there were many manuscripts and sketches. There was also a painting of the manor house where Pushkin stayed in Dolna (that I visited with the IWCM Book Club)
It was obvious that our guide was quite knowledgeable, and she had a great deal of pride in this museum and its treasure. We were touched when she presented us with bookmarks (from an event back in 1995 that include Pushkin sketches) and copies of several of his poems (in English and in Russian)
As in other museums we have visited in Chisinau, all the rooms were dark. The lights were turned on when we stepped into the room, and as soon as we left, the lights were turned off again. Attendants remained in the room, reading, with only the natural light that shined through the windows
