Muskie Fellowship applications

Another assignment that I worked on here in Moldova: reviewing Muskie Fellowship applications from Moldova in the fields of Education, Public Health, Environment, and Public Policy.

On the US Department of State website, the purpose of the exchange program is as follows:

http://exchanges.state.gov/academicexchanges/muskie.html

"The Edmund S. Muskie Graduate Fellowship Program provides fellowships for Master’s degree-level study to emerging leaders from Eurasia for study in the United States in the fields listed below.

"The Muskie program provides fellows with intensive academic study and professional training in their chosen fields. In addition to their academic programs, Muskie fellows gain exposure to American values through community service activities and develop professional skills through a full-time internship in their field of study.

Eligibility Requirements:
"The program is open to graduate students and professionals from Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, Russia, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Ukraine and Uzbekistan for one-year non-degree, one-year degree or two-year degree study in the United States.

"Eligible fields of study include: business administration, economics, education, environmental policy and management, international affairs, journalism and mass communication, law, library and information science, public administration, public health and public policy. Approximately 140 fellowships are awarded each academic year."

The program is administered by IREX, and you can learn more about the Muskie program on their website

for example, more than 4,000 fellows have participated in the program since it began in 1992.
